What is Death Cafe? en français
A Death Café is a group directed discussion of death and how your experience with death impacts how you live your life. This discussion has no agenda, objectives or themes. It is a discussion group rather than a grief support group or counseling.
A Death Café is meant to be:
- Not for profit basis
- Respectful and confidential
- With no intention of leading people to any conclusion, product or course of action
- A comfortable and safe environment
- With café style refreshments and food
The objective is to provide a space to discuss death, as a part of life, and how our experience of death impacts how we live our lives.
“I thought it would be dismal and it wasn’t at all. It was facing reality. It wasn’t dealing with grief; it was dealing with death. It was actually a comfortable place.” (Joanne)
“I felt a positive feeling, a good energy. It wasn’t sad; it was even uplifting. It kind of helps you to unblock things, to be less afraid.” (Linda)
For respectful and dignified dialogue and discussion on death I welcome you to attend the next Death Café event facilitated by Kit Racette. Death Café events are free but a donation to help cover costs is appreciated.
